"Dark red. Very deep long and rich with spicy, syrupy red berry and cherry aromas and flavors of noteworthy intensity. Finishes long and suave with an almost smoky note of crushed rocks. Ages twelve months in used oak barriques. Deeper than Calcagno's Etna Rosso, offering a more tactile, creamy mouthfeel than that wine, but also spicier and more muscular than Calcagno's other Etna Rosso cru, the Arcuria."

"The 2014 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo shows interesting dimension, with savory notes of dried juniper berry and black peppercorn. Dark fruit, ash and balsam herb fill in the back. The wine offers good complexity and an ever-fluid bouquet that changes each time you return to the glass. The wine shows structure and power, with firm tannins and high fruit tension. Only 5,000 bottles were produced."
